Nuova Consonanza announces the 28th edition of the Franco Evangelisti International Composition Competition, dedicated to the memory of one of the most active animators and founding members of the Association.

The 2026 edition is dedicated to compositions for string quartet.

Composers of any age and nationality are eligible.

The duration of the composition cannot exceed 12 minutes.
Each candidate may present one or more compositions even if already performed, as long as they are unpublished and not awarded in other competitions.

The use of electronic or recorded media is not intended.

How to participate

To participate in the Franco Evangelisti 2025 competition you must pay the amount of 60€ as entry fee for each separate submitted work:

Scores, proof of payment and all documents (written in Italian, English or French) must be sent by 11:59 PM (GMT +2) on September 15, 2026, via email to: concorsoevangelisti@nuovaconsonanza.it

Competition Process

In the first phase, the jury will select three compositions, which will proceed to the final concert in December 2026, performed by Quartetto Maurice as part of the 63nd Nuova Consonanza Festival.
Each composer may have only one composition selected for the final.
After the performance, the jury will announce the winning composition.

Prize
The winning composer will receive € 1.000 and publication by Sconfinarte Editions, Milano

The jury reserves the right not to award any prizes, not to select finalists, to assign ex-aequo prizes, or to give special mentions to outstanding compositions. The jury’s judgment is unquestionable and cannot be appealed.

In case of legal disputes, the competent forum is that of Rome. The original (Italian) version of the present call stands as the only source reference for legal disputes.

How to register

Scores must be anonymous and identified on the first page with a personal motto.
(Motto= short saying, maxim).

(The composer's name or the title of the composition must not appear on the score.)

Submission documents include:

registration form, filled and signed;
CV and bio;
receipt of payment of the entry fee (details below);
copy of personal identity document;
Optional but recommended: a link to an audio recording or a digital simulation of the submitted work

Do not attach any audio files to the email, but only the links.

Audio must be downloadable and uploaded to a permanent storage service (Dropbox or Google Drive). Files on platforms that do not allow downloads will not be accepted. Audio files must also be anonymous.

(Only the motto must appear. The title or composer's name must not appear)

Documentation may be submitted in Italian, English, or French.
